IBM’s Australian arm has received a potential six-month, $2.4 million contract to provide an Amazon Web Services-built cloud platform for a federal government agency in Australia, ZDNet reported Friday.
Asha McLean writes the contract with the Australian Taxation Office comes a month after IBM received approximately $5.3 million in contracts from Australia’s five federal agencies that include the departments of defense and human services.
ATO also awarded a potential $3.1 million contract to IBM Australia in September to provide cloud operation support services through the AWS cloud, McLean reports.
The company received the contracts less than two months after the Australian government launched an investigation into distributed denial-of-service attacks on the IBM-hosted online census system of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the report added.
