General Dynamics has begun to test two updated components of the U.S. Army‘s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Increment 2 system.
The company said Monday its business unit delivered four Tactical Communications Node-Lite and two Network Operations and Security Center-Lite units to the Army to start the test and evaluation process.
General Dynamics also performs preliminary logistics and software evaluations on a TCN-L and a NOSC-L while four additional TCN-Ls and one NOSC-L are in production and will the enter test and evaluation phase by the end of October.
Formal operational tests will be conducted at the Army Network Integration Evaluation 17.2 in 2017 which will include wide area network transmission performance, safety and environmental and electromagnetic interference tests, the company added.
TCN-L and NOSC-L are designed for integration on Humvees to provide network management support to command posts, General Dynamics noted.
WIN-T Increment 2 serves as the Army’s wide-area tactical communication network that works to deliver voice and data services for battlefield operations.
The network entered full rate production in June 2015 and has been deployed to seven division headquarters and 14 brigade combat teams.
