DataCenterFortinet has launched a new cloud data center in Germany that will work to provide local cloud-based data hosting and cybersecurity services to European customers.

The company said Monday the FortiCloud European data center aims to address customer privacy concerns through the Fortinet Security Fabric, as well as support compliance for hosting data within the European Union.

“Competing in today’s digital economy requires businesses of all sizes to be agile, lean and scalable at a global level which is why so many look at cloud-based services,” said Michael Xie, Fortinet founder, president and chief technology officer.

“However, concerns about data security and privacy can often be perceived as a barrier to the adoption of such services.”

Fortinet said its new data center serves to support Fortinet Security Fabric deployment models depending on business goals.

The facility will work to deliver regional support for the company’s security-as-a-service portfolio that includes FortiCloud and FortiSandbox Cloud, Fortinet added.

FortiCloud is designed to streamline deployment, configuration and visibility throughout FortiGate, FortiWIFI and FortiAP security tools.

FortiGuard FortiSandbox Cloud Service works to identify and mitigate cyber attacks through real-time threat intelligence.
