Aware will provide web-based biometric products for the Defense Department‘s efforts to gather and store fingerprints as part of DoD’s new SWFT Plus Enrollment applicant screening system.
The company said Tuesday its WebEnroll, BioComponents and BioSP tools are designed to collect fingerprints through a web-based biometric enrollment application in an effort to relay, sustain and secure data across the department’s divisions, facilities and bases.
WebEnroll is equipped with the company’s BioComponents to help gather, evaluate and submit biographic data, as well as live-scanned and card-based fingerprints, facial and iris images via a web browser.
BioSP works to manage the configuration and distribution of the WebEnroll application, process search results and validate, format and route enrollment submissions in line with set standards.
“Enabling biometric capture in a browser presents difficult technical challenges, but also significant advantages for our customers, particularly for large, broadly distributed deployments,” said Rob Mungovan, vice president of biometrics at Aware.
The Defense Manpower Data Center administers SWFT+ to help standardize the capture, storage and relay of electronic fingerprints across the department and allow the use of present fingerprint capture workstations.
The systems will also be deployed to support military and civilian applicant screening for the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps.
