Cubic‘s transportation systems segment has received a potential $52 million contract extension that includes options from Atlanta, Georgia’s public transportation agency to provide maintenance services for an automated fare collection platform.
San Diego-based Cubic said Thursday it will continue to maintain the company-built Breeze Card AFC system which currently generates more than 106 million rides for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority and MARTA’s regional partners per year.
Services will include first-line hardware, local infrastructure and software support; corrective and preventive maintenance services; and maintenance management for MARTA, Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, Cobb and Gwinnett counties and the Atlanta Streetcar.
Matt Cole, president of Cubic’s transportation systems segment, said the award builds on the company’s work in the Atlanta metropolitan region for at least 10 years.
The contract extension has a two-year base period worth $12.7 million.
