The U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy have awarded a Chemring Group subsidiary $17.6 million in contracts to produce and deliver MJU-61A/B flares and M2o6 and M211 infrared decoy flares.
Chemring Countermeasures will produce the MJU-61A/B and m206 flares at its Kilgore facility in Toone, Tennessee and the M211 at its Alloy Surfaces facility in Chester Township, Pennsylvania, the company said Wednesday.
The flares will be integrated on aerial platforms’ survivability systems that work to protect helicopters, fighters and transport aircraft from infrared-guided missile threats.
