Aerojet Rocketdyne has partnered with the Carmichael Water District and Golden State Water Company for a project that is intended to expand regional water supplies.
The American River Pipeline Conveyance Project is meant to replace water supply for Golden State Water Company’s customers in Gold River and portions of the City of Rancho Cordova that use existing treatment capacity at Carmichael Water District’s Water Treatment Plant, Aerojet Rocketdyne said Monday.
“Aerojet Rocketdyne was pleased to partner on this valuable project with Carmichael Water District and Golden State Water Company and to see the beneficial reuse of our remediated groundwater,†said Scott Goulart, Aerojet Rocketdyne’s senior director of environmental remediation.
The replacement water supply comes from the remediated Aerojet Rocketdyne groundwater released to the American River at Buffalo Creek and CWD will be able to divert and supply up to 4.5 million gallons of water per day through the project.
The project comprises nearly 7,400 feet of 24-inch diameter pipelines, existing abandoned water diversion assets and construction on the northern bank with a naturalized channel, culvert and improved access to the upstream habitat.
The project funding originates from the state under the Governor’s Water Action Plan.
