Rockwell Collins has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Defense Contract Management Agency to establish a new procurement process for commercial items to be used in military applications.
The aviation product maker said Wednesday the new process outlined information required from Rockwell Collins to comply with government-recommended commercial item classification and pricing structures.
Industry and government partners pursue these types of agreements to give agencies access to new technology and both commercial products and services the warfighters can use.
“This agreement sets forth the type of information and specific data that Rockwell Collins will provide to the government to support their commerciality assertions and item pricing,” said Lt. Gen. Wendy Masiello, DCMA director.
Masiello added that the agreement will help set the standards for future commerciality agreements and streamline the acquisition process for commercial and commercial-like items.
DCMA and Rockwell Collins signed the pact in early September and will review the agreement each year.
