Ping4 has received a contract of an undisclosed value from the Department of Homeland Security to develop a mobile communications platform that will work to alert first responders on flood conditions.
Smartphone application developer Ping4 said Tuesday the platform will be designed to use location-based features of smart mobile devices to provide area-specific alerts such as flood conditions around a building, a city section or a stretch of highway.
Ping4 added the platform will help facilitate the exchanges of media content that could include text, images, audio and video.
The company will design the alerting systems to help first responders address flood fatalities and property losses, Ping4 noted.
