Orbital ATK has unveiled new large tactical motor manufacturing facilities at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in Rocket Center, West Virginia as part of the company’s efforts to fulfill demand for insensitive munitions rocket motors.
The company said Wednesday the new facilities will help create a production line for Orbital ATK’s family of propulsion systems that support defense programs.
Orbital ATK held a ribbon cutting ceremony that was attended by Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelly Moore Capito; William Deligne, Naval Sea Systems Command executive director; and David Thompson, Orbital ATK president and CEO.
Pat Nolan, vice president and general manager of the Orbital ATK defense systems group’s missile products division, said the company built the new factory to help address IM rocket motors’ safety and cost.
Orbital ATK’s defense systems group builds precision and strike weapons, propulsion systems, hypersonics, missile components for air-, sea- and land-based systems, ammunition and related products.
