The Defense Information Systems Agency has asked industry to provide inputs on information technology platforms for the National Background Investigation System.
DISA said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday NBIS will cover all IT applications, security, storage and other services in support of the operations of the National Background Investigation Bureau that will replace the Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Investigative Services organization.
According to DISA, the NBIS program management office will work to build an enterprise IT platform designed to facilitate modular system development, ensure data security, advance shared services and meet end users’ requirements.
Interested vendors should provide information on the availability of commercial-off-the-shelf platforms and services that would help meet the NBIS requirement, host environments of IT platforms as well as comments on data security based on the protection zones concept, the request for information stated.
Responses to the RFIÂ are due Sept. 23.
The White House announced in January the plan to form NBIB to oversee background checks on federal contractors and employees as part of efforts to update the security clearance and investigation process.
