Larry Prior, CEO of federal technology services contractor CSRA, has said he thinks the next U.S. administration should prioritize efforts to update and repair the federal government’s information technology infrastructure as the country competes in the global economy.
Prior told CRN associate editor Jimmy Sheridan in an interview published Thursday that cybersecurity within the federal government should be “more prevalent and embedded in everything we do in IT.â€
He said the data breaches at the Office of Personnel Management and Democratic National Committee seek to suggest that agencies need to build up their cyber defenses across endpoints, servers and networks, update core infrastructure as well as facilitate training on how to avoid phishing incidents.
Prior, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2016, also mentioned the possibility of a “watershed change†in IT investment in the next administration.
“We think that the larger tectonic move is the cloud,†he added.
He also noted that most government agencies prefer to adopt a private cloud platform and want a strategy that would help them migrate workloads to public or private cloud environments.
