Constellium N.V. has been awarded a contract of an undisclosed value to supply specialized aluminium alloys to the U.S. Army for use in the military branch’s Combat Vehicle Prototype platform.
The Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center plans to apply Constellium’s KEIKOR 2139 to the CVP integrated hull capsule under the contract, the company said Wednesday.
David Meacham, vice president of sales transportation, industry and defense at Constellium, said the company developed its aluminium alloy product for armored vehicle applications as part of the company’s technology investment efforts over the past five years.
KEIKOR 2139 incorporates blast performance armor piercing systems to meet the requirements for TARDEC’s next generation prototype fighting vehicle.
Constellium will manufacture the KEIKOR 2139 alloy at the company’s facility in Ravenswood, West Virginia.
