CAE‘s U.S. business has received the first three Grob-built G120TP aircraft that will support the U.S. Army‘s Fixed-Wing Flight Training program designed to help rotary-wing aviators transition as pilots to the service branch’s fixed-wing aircraft.
The company CAE said Wednesday it has also started to work with an initial group of instructor pilots in preparation for the start of training in 2017 and continues the construction of a new company-owned and operated Dothan Training Center in Alabama.
“Army Fixed-Wing Flight Training is exactly the kind of training systems integration program that CAE is focused on providing its military customers in the [U.S.] and around the world,” said Ray Duquette, CAE USA president and general manager.
Duquette added the training program will cover live, virtual and constructive training to provide the Army with a modern training system designed specifically for the service branch’s fixed-wing community.
The Army and CAE will also implement an initial-entry fixed wing training program for entry-level Army students that aim to begin their careers on fixed-wing aircraft sooner, CAE noted.
CAE plans to design and manufacture two Grob G120TP integrated procedures trainers as well as desktop trainers and courseware in support of the training program.
