Andy Start, president of Inmarsat’s global government business, has said the company seeks to help the government perform its mission using a satellite network infrastructure that works to deliver what he calls a “digital edge.”
Start wrote in a blog post published Thursday that Inmarsat designed its global satellite network to meet the security requirements of government clients based on the five A’s — augment, accompany, autonomy, automate and abstracting.
He noted that Inmarsat works to connect aircraft, helicopters, ships, submarines and other platforms over terrestrial fiber, L-band, Ka-band and Mil-Ka networks.
The company has also collaborated with terminal manufacturers to set the standard for L-band terminals and the new Global Xpress terminals for land, sea and air, according to Start.
“[We] have configured our network with technical features, and a commercial ecosystem, which allow you to pull all the digital levers we currently know about, and to do that in a consistent way anywhere across the planet,” he said.
