Accenture Study Details 5 Tech Trends in Digital Government; Tom Greiner Comments

A new Accenture study has identified five emerging technology trends driven by a “people-first approach” the company believes can help move forward the federal government’s digital initiatives.

The Accenture Technology Vision 2016 study sought input from the Technology Vision External Advisory Board that consists of individuals from the public and private sectors and academia, Accenture said Wednesday.

Accenture cited intelligent automation, liquid workforce, platform-based business models, predictable disruption and digital trust as key to how federal agencies could achieve their digital goals.

“As technology advancements accelerate at an unprecedented rate, federal leaders who equip employees with the right skills can fully capitalize on digital innovations,” said Tom Greiner, who technology business lead at Accenture Federal Services.

The study finds that federal government officials adopt intelligent automation driven by artificial intelligence, social, mobile, analytics and cloud computing to alter how their agencies operate and build relationship between citizens and machines.

Respondents to the study cited the ability to “quickly learn” and “shift gears” as top qualities a workforce must possess.

Eighty-percent of the respondents expect they will form part of their organization’s core growth strategy within three years through new platform-based business models.
