Approximately 40 private sector firms have started to receive data on cyber threat indicators from the Department of Homeland Security through the Automated Indicator Sharing network, Federal News Radio reported Tuesday.
Nicole Ogrysko writes that one company has begun to secure and share information on cyber vulnerabilities with DHS through the AIS network.
DHS introduced AIS in compliance with the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act that Congress passed in 2015, Ogrysko reports.
Andy Ozment, DHS assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications, told reporters Tuesday that approximately 50 government agencies, private firms and other institutions have participated in the AIS program and that DHS has begun to seek comments from those entities about the challenges they have encountered with the network, according to the report.
Ozment also noted that the department has launched efforts to put the standards in place for the AIS network.
“We expect to see new [Structured Threat Information eXpression] and [Trusted Automated Exchange of Indicator Information] standards, version 2.0, in the next few months,†he said, the report added.
