Science Applications International Corp. has unveiled a new five-phase multi-tiered methodology intended to help government agencies migrate and transform information technology applications and systems into a cloud computing environment.
SAIC said Thursday the Cloud Migration Edge system uses specialized tools, processes and practices to guide cloud migration life cycles through the implementation of a mission-centric cloud computing environment that breaks down the migration process into standardized components.
The Assess and Strategize, Design, Transition, Operate and Improve methodology employs systems from industry partners such as Amazon Web Services, EMC, NetApp, RedHat and VMware to help clients with their requirements and business requirements.
“Migration is not just about the applications, it is about transforming the way business and missions are performed while providing new capabilities that cloud-based systems enable,†said Charles Onstott, senior vice president and general manager of SAIC’s cyber, cloud, and data science service line.
Coby Holloway, vice president of cloud computing and business transformation services at SAIC, added the company uses existing customer investments and modern cloud technologies to create a comprehensive IT environment designed to meet customers’ requirements.
SAIC said its methodology involves work to analyze an agency’s requirements, develop an architecture, design a migration approach and implement transition plans to include change and risk management.
The company also will work with agencies to develop new operations and maintenance models based on target architectures that include cloud management and continuous service updates.
