Saab has secured a $15.4 million contract to produce vehicle electronics for integration into Sweden’s fleet of Stridsvagn 122 main battle tanks.
The company will design, develop and deliver the electronics to Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Gmbh, which serves as the primary tank supplier to the Swedish military, Saab said Wednesday.
The contract also covers training and documentation services.
Saab noted it will also integrate its Swedish battalion combat management system into the Swedish tanks and that deliveries of the vehicle electronics will take place from 2018 to 2022.
The Stridsvagn 122 is based on Germany’s Leopard 2 tank built by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann.
