Raytheon to Supply MK 54 Torpedo Equipment to US Navy, Thailand

The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon a potential $448.7 million contract to provide MK 54 lightweight torpedo parts and equipment to the U.S. Navy and the government of Thailand under the foreign military sales program.

The contract, which contains a base value of $37.7 million, covers MK 54 common parts kits and MK 54 Mod 0 kits as well as exercise fuel tanks, spares, production support material and engineering and hardware repair support services, the Defense Department said Thursday.

DoD added Raytheon’s integrated defense systems business will perform work in Washington, Rhode Island and Massachusetts through May 2019.

The Naval Sea Systems Command received two bids for the contract through a competitive procurement on FedBizOpps and obligated $36.1 million at the time of award from the service branch’s fiscal 2016 weapons procurement and foreign military sales funds.

The MK 54 Mod 0 features a guidance and control segment comprised of commercial-off-the-shelf digital processing technologies and tactical software designed to provide shallow water counter-countermeasures during littoral missions.
