Raytheon has received an 18-month, $45.4 million delivery order to supply repaired and new units of the Phalanx close-in-weapon system to the U.S. Navy.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the Navy issued the order as a bridge action under a previously awarded contract for performance-based logistics support of Phalanx to procure line-item units in compliance with the service branch’s fleet requirements.
Raytheon’s missile systems business will perform work in Louisville, Kentucky, through February 2018.
The Navy will use its fiscal 2016 working capital funds to cover the full obligated amount.
Phalanx is a computer-controlled, radar-guided gun system built to target anti-ship missiles and other threats.
The weapon system has been installed on all of the Navy’s surface combatant ship classes.
