Oracle has announced plans to set up a high school at its headquarters in Redwood City, California, in an effort to train and prepare students for design and engineering jobs, ABC7 News reported Friday.
Lyanne Melendez writes Oracle will support the construction of the Design Tech High School through its education fund.
The computer technology firm held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for the building more than 17 years after Oracle CEO Larry Ellison proposed the idea to establish an educational institution on the firm’s campus, Melendez reports.
The report said the school’s concept already existed and that the institution has been operational since 2013 in Burlingame, California.
The company will open the Design Tech High School in September 2017, according to the report.
