Boeing’s Insitu subsidiary has received a potential one-year, $8.3 million delivery order from the U.S. Navy to provide spares, related equipment and other support services for the ScanEagle unmanned aerial system.
The Navy awarded the firm-fixed-price delivery contract in support of Iraq’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance efforts, the Defense Department said Tuesday.
Insitu will perform work in Bingen, Washington and Baghdad, Iraq, through August 2017.
DoD noted the order falls under a previously awarded basic ordering agreement and that the Naval Air Systems Command will obligate the full contract amount in foreign military sales funds at the time of award.
ScanEagle is designed to provide ground- and aerial-based imagery for use in surveillance operations and is built to work with Insitu’s SkyHook recovery tool and Mark 4 Launcher runway platform.
