NavyC5ISRNavmar Applied Sciences Corp. has received a two-year, $12.4 million order from the U.S. Navy to develop and test intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensors for current maritime platforms of the military service branch.

The Navy plans to integrate the sensors into naval platforms to support various operations of the Special Operations Command, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

Navmar will also work to set up a precision high-altitude sonobuoy and demonstrate a laser detection and ranging system for the Navy under the Small Business Innovation Research initiative.

The company will perform work in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Maryland, Florida and Washington through August 2018.

The Navy obligated $284,793 from its fiscal 2015 and 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.

Navmar designs and develops avionics-related technologies.
