Microsoft has launched a service offering intended to help customer agencies move huge amounts of data into or out of the company’s blob storage within the Azure Government cloud network.
Brenda Lee, a Microsoft program manager, wrote in a blog entry posted Wednesday the Azure Import/Export Service offering will work to help government organizations migrate data through shipment of hard disk drives to the company’s data center.
Lee recommends that clients use the service for instances where it would take 7 days or longer to load data over the network.
She added the company aims to secure data of customers who will use the Azure Import/Export service with the Bitlocker encryption tool.
Microsoft developed the service to also support customer agencies’Â data seeding, content distribution, recurring data update, offsite backup and disaster recovery operations, according to Lee.
