L-3 Communications‘ MAPPS division has received a contract from China-based joint venture Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power to help update the reactor core model on the Hongyanhe Phase I nuclear power site’s simulator.
MAPPS said Tuesday it will provide the Orchid Core Builder graphical utility that will work to create and validate the simulator’s cycle-specific reactor core data.
The updated Comet Plus reactor model is designed to support an 18-month refueling cycle at LHNP’s nuclear plant, MAPPS added.
LHNP is a joint venture of  state-owned companies China General Nuclear, State Power Investment Corporation and Dalian Construction Investment Group.
Hongyanhe Phase I site contains northeastern China’s first nuclear power generating units that support the country’s plans to upgrade its industrial base.
