Implant Sciences is working to acquire France-based Zapata Industries to distribute the latter’s personal flight system to the defense, security and commercial markets, Defense News reported Thursday.
Jen Judson writes Zapata Industries has passed a proof-of-concept milestone for its Flyboard Air system that seeks to bring an envisioned hoverboard concept into reality for possible military applications such as troop movement, infiltration and exfiltration.
The report noted Implant Sciences has signed a letter of intent to acquire Zapata Industries in support of the former’s push to expand in the homeland security and defense space markets.
“We are in constant review of technologies … We came across what we think is a non-existent market for something, which is a brand new technology that can really shape a brand new market,†Implant Sciences President Bob Liscouski told Defense News.
“We are looking to scale the platform for supply — logistical supply — and medical evacuation,†Liscouski added.
