Harris has been awarded a potential $27 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to perform the first phase of a research and development program.
The Defense Department said Tuesday DARPA will obligate $22.3 million in fiscal  year 2015 and fiscal 2016 R&D funds at the time of award.
Ninety percent of contract-related work will occur in Palm Bay, Florida and the rest will take place at various locations in New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona.
