Rancho Cucamonga, California-based electronics manufacturer General Micro Systems‘ rugged computer has been selected for installation into the second increment of the U.S. Army‘s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical, Military & Aerospace reported Friday.
John Keller writes General Dynamics and Army Program Executive Office Command Control Communications-Tactical officials will use the GMS S902R Golden-Eye III system in vehicle-mount, WIN-T Increment 2 equipment that provides communications, mission command and situational awareness capacity to military vehicles.
Golden-Eye III was designed with a capacity to support unmanned aerial vehicle systems as well as industrial and commercial operations and has been deployed on Army vehicles and unmanned robots that perform “hazardous” tasks.
The report added GMS also works to develop a new rugged computer called the SB2002-SW Blackhawk computer system based on the Intel Xeon D processor that will support persistent surveillance, industrial automation, telemetry, Internet of Things gateways and rail transportation applications.
