John Urias, former president of Oshkosh Corp.’s defense segment, has joined TenCate Advanced Armor as a member of the protective fabrics manufacturer’s advisory board.
TCAA said Monday Urias brings experience in U.S. and international contracting to the company plus background from his career in the U.S. Army.
Group Director Steen Tanderup said the company looked to Urias’ military and corporate experience for support of TCAA’s global growth efforts.
Urias retired in February from his roles as Oshkosh defense segment president and company executive vice president due to family health matters.
Urias’ team at Oshkosh won the potential $6.75 billion Joint Light Tactical Vehicle contract in 2015 to build the U.S. Army‘s and Marine Corps‘ Humvee vehicle successor.
The retired Army major general worked at Raytheon as vice president of programs in that company’s integrated defense systems business prior to Oshkosh.
Urias held in operational, staff and materiel acquisition roles at the Army and has served as commander of the 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery, 101st Airborne Division.
He also assumed leadership roles at the Joint Contracting Command – Iraq/Afghanistan, Program Executive Office of Air, Space and Missile Defense and the Tank and Automotive Command.
