Smiths Detection has secured $24.8 million in contracts from Egyptian security company Falcon Group to provide advanced detection systems for installation at airports across Egypt.
Smiths Detection said Wednesday it will provide HI-SCAN 6040aTiX, HI-SCAN 6040-2is HR, HI-SCAN 100100T-2is, HI-SCAN 145180-2is and IONSCAN 600 platforms for Egyptian airport security personnel to detect explosives at passenger checkpoints.
The contract also covers the provision of CIP-300 and HCVP Z60 car inspection X-ray portals and HCVMe35 mobile platform for vehicle and cargo screening as well as loaded truck and container inspection at airport entrances.

“The range of screening systems included in this contract will help provide world-class detection capabilities to protect against evolving threats.â€
Smiths Detection expects to complete deliveries of the equipment this month.
Falcon Group serves as the main security supplier for Egypt and has established a professional relationship with the military intelligence organization at the Egyptian defense ministry, Smiths Detection noted.
