DCCA to Build, Maintain IT Platform for CMS’ Medicaid Drug Program

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has awarded Data Computer Corporation of America a potential four-year, $12 million contract to design, build and maintain an information technology system for CMS’ Medicaid Drug Program.

DCCA said Wednesday it will use open architecture and open source commercial off-the-shelf products to develop the MDP platform as well as apply a human-centric design approach that complies with the U.S. Digital Services‘ playbook to the project.

“We’re thrilled to spearhead this program, as it will help improve analytics, data sharing, program monitoring, program-to-operations comparisons and state-to-state comparisons for CMS,” said David Bower, DCCA CEO.

He added the project seeks to integrate multiple data sources into a single IT infrastructure that will work to help agency personnel gain insight from data that will be stored in the system.

The MDP system will work to consolidate CMS’ current Medicaid Drug Rebate system, Federal Upper Limit calculation tool for generic drug processes, Drug Data Reporting for Medicaid system and CHIP Business Information Solution.
