Boeing has landed a $68.4 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to obtain long-lead parts needed for the production of P-8A Poseidon multimission maritime patrol aircraft for the U.K.
The Defense Department said Thursday the company will also provide manufacturing support for two full-rate production 4 Lot 8 P-8As under the foreign military sales program.
The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate the full amount of the modification from the service branch’s FMSÂ funds.
Work will take place in Washington, Maryland, New York and the U.K through July 2017.
The P-8A Poseidon was designed for maritime and littoral long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and ISR operations and serve as a replacement to the P-3C Orion.
