Boeing has secured a $60.8 million delivery order modification to perform preliminary and critical design reviews intended to help mature the Increment 3 Block 2 update of the U.S. Navy‘s P-8A Poseidon maritime aircraft.
The Defense Department said Friday Boeing will review P-8A wideband satellite communications, computing and security architecture, automated digital network system, common data link, anti-surface warfare signal intelligence and combat system architecture upgrades.
Work will occur at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland as well as various locations in Washington, California, Texas and Missouri through February 2019.
The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $3,150,000 at the time of the award from the service branch’s fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
P-8A is designed to support maritime and littoral operations such as anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
