Thales has introduced an unmanned air system the company developed to support military and civilian customers that perform border surveillance, disaster response and illegal traffic monitoring operations.
Fulmar X is made from carbon fiber composite materials and designed to operate for more than eight hours at a range of up to 49 miles, Thales said Tuesday.
“Its modular architecture supports multiple configurations so the system is suitable for a broad range of surveillance missions,” said Pierre Eric Pommellet, Thales executive vice president of defense mission systems.
The company noted the UAS is also equipped with an electro-optical infrared sensor to aid in nighttime missions and can be fitted with an automatic identification system or a Mode 3/C transponder
Fulmar X will work as a standalone platform or in conjunction with wider surveillance systems, Thales added.
