Jacobs Engineering Group has appointed Steven Demetriou, company president and CEO, to take the additional role of chairman of the board and named Linda Fayne Levinson, a director at Jacobs and VendareNetblue chairman, as lead director.
“The board concluded it is in the best interest of the company and its shareholders to combine the roles of chairman and CEO,” Noel Watson, current non-executive chair at Jacobs, said in a statement issued Thursday.
“As chairman and CEO, Steve can more effectively deal with our major global customers and their large projects.”
Demetriou has more than 30 years of experience in global business leadership and held a number of executive roles in his career, including as CEO of Aleris International and Lubrizol Advanced before he took on the president and CEOÂ positions at Jacobs in August 2015.
Levinson has been an independent director at Jacobs since 1996 and works with The Hertz Corporation as a director and CVC Capital Partners as a member of the U.S. advisory board.
