StockMissileLaunchMDAThe State Department has given South Korea the go-ahead to procure SM-2 Block IIIB Standard missiles and related support from the U.S. government under a potential $65 million foreign military sales agreement.

Raytheon will serve as principal contractor for the sale that covers 17 SM-2 Block IIIB missiles and 17 missile containers, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.

South Korea will use the missiles and related services to build up its defensive capability, supplement its missile weapon inventory and support interoperability with allied forces.

The FMS contract also includes training resources, publication, technical data, logistics and technical support services.

DCSA said it notified Congress of the potential sale Friday.
