NavyC5ISRAustralia-based computer vision systems provider Sentient Vision Systems has unveiled the latest update to its automated object detection software for land and maritime applications.

Sentient said July 19 the Kestrel 4.0 update includes functions that work to cut image processing requirements by 50 percent and support high-definition image processing on a processor.

“This upgrade allows our ground-based customers to operate Kestrel on much smaller, and therefore more mobile, ground processing systems,” said Simon Olsen, Sentient director of business development, strategy and partnerships at Sentient.

The Kestrel software works to automatically detect small moving objects on land or on the surface of the ocean using EO/IR sensor feeds and a wide field of view to provide detection capacity over large search areas.

Sentient said Kestrel has supported military operations in Africa, Australia, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, South America and the U.S.
