The National Institutes of Health has awarded Vibrent Health a five-year, $74 million contract to supply a technology platform for NIH to enroll and engage U.S. participants in the cohort program of the White House’s Precision Medicine Initiative.
Vibrent Health said Wednesday it will develop, test, maintain and update the platform for the nationwide medical research effort using data hosting services from Amazon Web Services‘ GovCloud region.
The platform will be designed to help people enroll, consent and submit personal health, environment and lifestyle data to NIH through the use of mobile apps, web interfaces, interactive voice response, feature phones and wearable sensors.
NIH is scheduled to start PMI enrollment later this year and aims to attract as many as one million volunteers over the next four or five years to the study.
The agency awarded $55 million in funds last week to multiple organizations to establish a data and research support center, participant technologies center and a healthcare provider network for the PMI cohort program.
Vibrent Health partnered with Computer Sciences Corp. and The Scripps Research Institute to support the agency’s initiative.
