Lockheed Martin has entered into an agreement with Terma that provides the latter options to pursue additional component production opportunities with the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter program beyond existing contracts.
Denmark-based Terma said Wednesday it seeks to continue to provide F-35 composite and bonded assembly work through low-rate initial production and full-rate production.
The agreement follows news of Denmark’s decision in June to proceed with plans to purchase 27 F-35A units from Lockheed for an estimated $3 billion.
“[We] have initiated a comprehensive investment program at our Danish facilities to secure and increase our solid and reliable technology base for future involvement in the program,” said Jens Maaloe, Terma president and CEO.
“Denmark is an essential partner in F-35 production, development and sustainment activities and is building parts and components for the manufacture of more than 3,000 projected aircraft,” added Orlando Carvalho, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics executive vice president.
