Leidos has secured a potential nine-year, $85 million contract from the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission to continue to run an electric ratepayer-funded conservation and efficiency program in the state.
The company said Thursday it will manage the design and implementation of commercial and residential rebate offers as well as clean energy training and educational programs under the Hawaii Energy initiative.
The program, which Leidos has administered for PUC since 2009, serves the counties of Hawaii, Honolulu and Maui.
The contract has three base years and two three-year extensions.
Hawaii Energy is a public benefits fund that contributes to the state’s renewable energy goals through financial incentives, education and training opportunities and collaboration with communities.
The state has generated more than $1 billion in electric bill savings over the past six years through the program participant’s energy-savings efforts, Leidos noted.
