A General Atomics subsidiary has received the Capability Maturity Model Integration Maturity level 5 rating for its aircraft systems business unit’s full-directed programs, systems and software development and production processes.
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. received the highest attainable maturity level award, which acknowledges companies considered to be working at an optimized level, General Atomics said Thursday.
“Absent an externally-levied requirement to achieve Maturity Level 5, GA-ASI has set this goal for itself, indicating a deep seated belief in the value of process improvement, and has done so over consecutive appraisals,” said David Greer, Assess-IT’s CMMI Institute-certified high maturity lead appraiser.
David Alexander, GA-ASI aircraft systems president, said that the award recognizes the company’s efforts to provide products designed to meet customer requirements and improve process performance through the use of metrics.
The CMMI maturity level is designed to support organizations to enhance their processes and performance and is measured through the CMMI Institute’s Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement version 1.3b.
