The Department of Homeland Security will hold an industry day on July 29 to foster partnerships between the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and startup firms and investors in the fields of small unmanned aircraft systems and airport passenger processing.
DHS said Tuesday the event aims to inform organizations and professionals on research and development opportunities under the Silicon Valley Innovation Program.
SVIP is an initiative of DHS’ science and technology directorate that offers funds for startups with technologies that can support DHS operations.
The department added the industry day will also involve engagement between DHS S&T members and technology professionals to spur discussion on DHS’ technological needs for future opportunities.
The event will occur at SRI International‘s Menlo Park facility in California from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
