Cubic Corp. has been awarded a three-year, $1.4 million subcontract extension award from UAV Tactical Systems to provide additional Tactical Common Data Links for the U.K. defense ministry of defense’s Watchkeeper Unmanned Aircraft System program.
The TCDL is a wireless connection system designed to facilitate image and data transfers from UAS platforms to ground control stations through digital signal processing functions that works to process high-volume sensor data received from the air, Cubic said Monday.
Mike Twyman, president of Cubic’s mission solutions business, said that the TCDL works to supply key decision makers with real-time data, as well as situational awareness and operational flexibility.
Cubic will deliver the system to the Watchkeeper program, Europe’s largest UAS program that aims to provide U.K. armed forces with intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance functions.
