Cohesity has achieved the National Institute of Standards and Technology‘s Federal Information Processing Standards 140-2 certification for the company’s encryption module.
The company said Tuesday the certification allows government agencies to use Cohesity’s hyperconverged secondary storage offering to handle sensitive information.
Cohesity added security tests of the encryption module took place part of Cohesity’s storage platform and on the same hardware that the company’s customers use.
NIST’s FIPS certification authorizes Cohesity to compete for government contracts from civilian agencies, the Defense Department and the Intelligence Community, the company noted.
Cohesit’s encryption module is software-implemented and its secondary storage offering is integrated with Amazon Web Services‘ GovCloud, which is certified under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
