CH2M has been awarded a contract to inspect pavements and help implement modifications to the airfield and infrastructure at Washington-based Reagan National Airport in an effort to help pilots navigate the area without confusion and avoid widely-reported hot spots.
The company said Tuesday it will work to address issues such as nonstandard airfield geometry under the Airfield Pavement Rehabilitation and Geometric Improvements design contract awarded by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Reagan National Airport handles at least 20 million passengers per year.
CH2M’s inspection work will include updates to the airport’s pavement management system, new designs, fixes to existing pavement and removals of distressed pavements in runways, taxiways and shoulders.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority also seeks new pavement markings, lighting, signs and navigational aids under the project.
