Booz Allen Hamilton and IBM have joined Microsoft‘s Surface Enterprise Initiative with the goal to create and offer a range of support tools for government and commercial organizations that use Windows 10-equipped Surface tablets.
Brian Hall, general manager of Microsoft’s devices business group, wrote in a blog entry posted Tuesday that Booz Allen will develop new tools intended to help address tablet security and scalability requirements of public sector and healthcare organizations through the partnership.
The Surface portfolio is certified by the Defense Department and available to DoD agencies via the Defense Information Systems Agency‘s Unified Capabilities Approved Products List.
He noted IBM plans to build an application for finance services, and consumer packaged goods and retail companies that will implement Microsoft’s data visualization tool Power BI on Surface in an effort to help customers make data-based decisions.
Microsoft and Dell formed a partnership last year to support more than 800 business users of Surface devices, according to Hall.
He added Microsoft authorized CDW, Insight, SHI and Zones as resellers of Surface products and accessories under the Surface Multi-National Purchasing Program.
