A joint bid by BAE Systems and its partner Patria has been selected as one of the two offers to participate in a one-year risk mitigation effort as part of the second phase of the Australian army’s combat reconnaissance vehicle program.
BAE’s Australian arm and Patria proposed the AMV35 vehicle for the Land 400 Phase 2 program, BAE said Thursday.
Glynn Phillips, CEO of BAE’s Australian arm, said BAE will manufacture the proposed vehicle in Australia once the Australian army selects its joint bid with Patria.
Phillips added the BAE-Patria team has produced three test vehicles in preparation for the Australian defense force’s evaluation program.
AMV35 integrates Patria’s Armored Modular Vehicle with BAE Systems Hagglunds’ E35 turret system.
Saab‘s Australian business signed a memorandum of understanding with BAE in July 2015 to provide subsystems and support services for AMV35 and related weapon system.
