cybersecurityA new Tripwire survey says 64 percent of information technology executives believe the U.K. government“™s separation from the European Union would not have an impact on the country“™s function to protect its networks from potential cyber attacks.

Tripwire said Monday it polled 278 IT professionals who attended the three-day Infosecurity Europe 2016 that kicked off June 7 in London.

A referendum will be conducted on June 23 to determine whether the U.K. should exit or remain a part of the EU, according to the company.

“Most information security professionals appear unconcerned with the impact of this referendum on U.K. cybersecurity,“ said Neil Harvey, vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Tripwire.

“This could mean that they believe that the U.K.“™s approach to cybersecurity won“™t change significantly either way, but it“™s also possible that EU hasn“™t provided enough transparency around the impact of new regulations in the near term to make a difference to professionals that grapple with these issues every day,“ Harvey added.
