Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and Orbital ATK and their respective small business partners Davidson Technologies, Mentis Sciences and Martinez and Turek have each received an award from the Defense Department‘s office of small business programs under the mentor-protege program.
The three teams, which currently support the Missile Defense Agency, received the Nunn-Perry Award in recognition of the mentor-protege teams’ technical developments and contributions to business opportunity growth efforts for small disadvantaged firms, MDA said Thursday.
“The MDA has a diversity of needs, many of which can be satisfied by small businesses through contracting for supplies or services,” said John James Jr., MDA executive director.
“MDA needs the innovation and ideas that small businesses provide to tackle the technical challenges we face.”
Lee Rosenberg, MDA office of small business programs director, said the DoD mentor-protege program helps foster partnerships between large business prime contractors and small businesses to support the agency.
MDA said the program supports small businesses that compete for prime contract and subcontract awards with the aid of large companies under project-based agreements.
